The Problem with Palin

John “P.O.W.” McCain is in trouble. Fresh off the heals of McCain’s Vice-Presidential pick, Sarah Palin’s highly mediocre speech, I thought it would be best to take a gander at the tactical and strategic value of this inexperienced hard-core Conservative.

John McCain’s choice of Vice Presidential nominee is either being praised or trashed, now trending negative. Praised mostly by Right-Wing whackos from notable rags as The Weekly Standard, or the National Review all praised Palin as if McCain had displayed pure genius. Of course, many on the Right did not agree, but the “Liberal Media” doesn’t want you to know that because they want to come into your homes and hold open your eyelids, like in Clockwork Orange, and force you to digest Commie-Pinko propaganda that will smear the poor, poor, poor, gentle great grandfather, John McCain.

While the Right is quietly divided (despite their staged unity), former Hillary supporters, from feminists to moderate housewives, have not been fooled. Polls suggest that it is not helping McCain with women voters and Obama’s bump continues to rise.

More alarming for McCain is that polls suggest independents are alienated by Palin’s whacko Right-Wing social agenda. If Palin has done anything, it’s galvanize the independent to left women’s vote against John McCain. If this plays through, it could turn a close election into a landslide.

John McCain is in danger of losing by a landslide

Even more alarming than that, is that many are now questioning McCain’s judgment. At a press conference, held in a fire station (God what a bunch of phonies) he supported his decision than wandered the wrong way till an aide grabbed him and pushed him in the right direction. He looked puzzled, confused, like someone suffering from senility. With all the gaffes he’s been making in recent months, mixing up Shiites with Sunnis, calling Putin the President of Germany, forgetting how many houses he owns, to name a few, it’s beginning to make sense that McCain may not be up to task.

Isn’t that a scary thought? Remember what Reagan did when he began to loose his mind? Iran-Contra. What if McCain has to step down, or his Cancer returns, who will replace him? That’s right, Dan Quayle’s cousin, with no national experience and less than a half a term as Governor.

The speech Palin gave tonight in the Twin Cities, was about as dry as toasted rye bread with no butter. She ranted on an on about Obama being bad and McCain being good. It was so juvenile, so filled with empty rhetoric, that I could hardly keep my eyes open. McCain’s a hero, yes we all know he was a P.O.W., Obama’s a tax and spend Liberal, yawn, how original, he’ll raise your taxes!!! Oh no, the IRS boogey men are going to kick down your door and pick your pockets. No mention, of course, that Obama plans to cut taxes for anyone making less than $250,000 a year, which is a vast majority of this country, and most of the taxes he does plan to raise only effect the super wealthy, less than 1% of this country’s population (ironically, the chief supporters of the Republican Party).

She whined on and on about taxes and national security and about how awful Obama is. It was a verbose rant of epic proportions. She even attacked Obama’s speeches as being all style and no substance. I yelled at my TV, “honey, you ain’t got neither one!”

Even after Obama spoke out against the media, telling them to lay off Palin’s pregnant, unmarried 17 year old daughter, saying “family is off limits,” Palin had no problem getting very ugly and very personal on the Democratic nominee. Typical Right-Wing whack-job!

Her speech didn’t break any ground, it was just an angry tirade of tired talking points against the opponent. No red meat, just a bunch of gnawing on the bone.

Now this whole pregnancy thing brings up an interesting point. Abstinence does NOT work!!! I heard some Right-Wing mom say “we all hope their going to abstain, but kids are going to do what they’re going to do,” so it’s ok. In other words: “well abstinence doesn’t work, and our new VP candidate has just proved that the atypical Republican household is just as prone to reality as the rest of us, but we don’t want to look like idiots so we’ll pretend we were right the whole time. Sorry rank and file supporters, everything we told you for the last 40 years is a bold-face lie.” Unbelievable how slippery these Righties are.

So now what? Palin looks extremely flawed and is calling into question McCain’s leadership abilities and even his sanity. How do the Repubs find their way out? Guess!

Republican talking point #357: When all the news is negative, blame the “Liberal Media.”

The Liberal Media!!!

See but this is a problem for McCain. Presidents rarely attack the “Liberal Media” because they need them on their side. The media is often attacked right after an election or by surrogates and lesser, more angry pundit types. McCain has always had a very warm relationship with the media, however that seems to be changing, becoming less favorable to him. I noticed that the DNC Convention began with serious negativity for Obama, by the end it was all positive, even from the Republicans. Could it be that they see the inevitable? Or is McCain just so lousy at controlling the PR that they keep making bonehead mistakes. Either could be true, My money is on both.

Regardless, the last thing McCain should do now is criticize the Media. Bashing someone’s profession and livelihood is a bad idea when you need their help. Maybe McCain will make a few calls to reporter’s bosses, however, it seems that the tide is turning sharply away from McCain. It could be a potential landslide if things continue on this path.

McCain is heading into a tail-spin and as a pilot, John McCain should no when he’s losing control.

Bush and McCain are Butt buddies
