Prominent Neo-Conservative backs Ahmadinejad in Iran Election

Notable Neo-Conservative Daniel Pipes told an audience last week that he was rooting for dictatorial President of Iran and Holocaust denier, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in today’s Presidential Election.

Doesn’t this make complete sense? The reform candidate, Mir-Hossein Mousavi, who is running on a platform of women’s rights and increased liberty, is open to unclenching their shaking fist at the West and replace it with a handshake. If this occurs, how will the Neo-Cons ever get their invasion of Iran? God forbid we can achieve regime change and democratization without firing a single riffle!

Another interesting point, is that if the election does replace Ahmadinejad with a calm sensible leader, wouldn’t that make Iran the most vibrant democracy in the Middle-East? I mean, many of our allies are unrepentant dictatorships or even monarchies. Some of our closest allies have back-peddled on human rights, like Jordan.
Egypt has had a the same “President” for around 30 years and Saudi Arabia has a decadent throne that inflicts harsh government rule. Many of the 9/11 terrorists came from these countries (Saudi Arabi in particular) and our unflinching support for these authoritarian regimes has only aided the recruitment of terrorists.
